A little about me
Family is at the heart
As a mum of two teenage girls, I've mastered the fine art of juggling multiple itineraries, last-minute plan changes and the eternal mystery of where everyone’s phone charger has disappeared to.
My passions include cooking, travel, walking and as you’d expect from someone with an arty background, I love to craft.
The Software
I’m passionate about pushing the boundaries of design, always staying ahead of the latest software and technology trends. The ever-evolving world of graphic design fascinates me, from shifting aesthetics to cutting-edge tools that transform how we create.
Over the years, I have embraced the rapid advancements in AI-powered design, using them to enhance creativity rather than replace it. Adaptability is key, and I tailor my approach to suit each client’s vision, ensuring every project is both innovative and impactful.
My approach to work
I’m also a big believer in sharing the love. I genuinely enjoy mentoring and guiding others who are less experienced, helping them level up in their skills. I like to think of myself as part creative guru, part design therapist. I’m also a bit of a tech geek, I get excited by how rapidly new tools are transforming the life of a graphic designer. Anything that can make our lives simpler while still producing high-quality work is alright by me.
For example, when I started, designing websites meant grappling with endless HTML coding and hoping you didn’t break the whole thing with one rogue semi-colon. But fast-forward to today, and we have platforms like Squarespace, Duda, Wix, WordPress, Webflow and Framer that let us designers get stuck in without feeling like we need a computer science degree. Now, we can design websites that look stunning while still having full control over the creative elements.
Let’s talk Canva, shall we? At first, I couldn’t stand it—people were bypassing professional designers and thinking they could do it themselves. “DIY design,” I thought, “What a nightmare!” But, credit where it’s due, Canva has upped its game. Now, it’s like a Swiss Army knife for quick tasks, with nifty tools and integrations that can actually speed up certain parts of the process. And hey, if you can’t beat them, join them, right?
Affectionately known (by myself, mostly) as the ‘Brand Police’, I’m all about sticking to brand guidelines—whether they’re set by the client or developed by yours truly. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy pushing creative boundaries. I love finding ways to keep designs fresh and eye-catching while staying true to the brand’s core identity. It’s all about making sure the work not only stands out but shouts, “This is us!” loud and clear.
In a nutshell, I thrive on blending creativity with practicality, and I always aim to deliver designs that are both innovative and effective. Whether I’m flying solo or collaborating with a team, you can count on me to bring a good mix of enthusiasm, adaptability, and a hefty dose of curiosity to the table. The world of design is ever-evolving, and I’m more than ready to evolve with it—preferably with a smile on my face and a bit of humour along the way.
